Essential Oils 101: Thieves >> Young Living Essential Oils

Our family started using Young Living Essential Oils just after the first of the year and our experience has been so wonderful, that we wanted to share it will all of you as well! Essential Oils are all the rage right now and for good reason! We have nearly swapped out every item in our medicine cabinet and are seeing better results with our oils than our over the counter medications! So, I thought I would share some of our favorite oils on here in case any of you are looking to learn more, one oil at a time…

Thieves is probably my favorite oil of all! Whenever we have the first sign of the sniffles or sore throat, we go right to our Thieves oil.

Thieves Essential Oils

Thieves was created based on research about four thieves in France who covered themselves with cloves, rosemary, and other aromatics while robbing plague victims. This proprietary essential oil blend was university tested for its cleansing abilities. It is highly effective in supporting the immune system and good health.

Thieves should always be used with a carrier oil (vegetable oil, coconut oil or olive oil are our household favorites) since some of the oils in it are “hot” and could irritate the skin if applied directly (it is generally safe to apply oils directly to the bottoms of your feet though).

5 Favorite Ways we use Thieves

  1. 4-8 drops in our diffuser with water to disinfect the air and to boost immunity (plus it just smells amazing!)
  2. Apply to the soles of the kids’ feet at night at the first sign of a cold
  3. Dilute and spray into garbage cans to get rid of that garbage smell
  4. Add 2-3 drops to dishwasher for cleaner dishes
  5. Ingest internally with a vegetable capsule mixed with a carrier oil to fight off a cold
