When should we book our newborn session?
Our schedule tends to fill many weeks in advance, and while we always try to accommodate last minute newborn sessions, we encourage you to schedule your newborn session as soon as possible before your baby arrives!
Since we’re not sure when our baby will arrive, how can we know when to schedule our newborn session?
Ideally, all newborn sessions will take place within the first 10-14 days after birth (the exception to this being any premature babies). We pencil in our expecting families for roughly one week after their due date and then we touch base once baby has arrived to firm up the date and time of your session and adjust accordingly based on baby’s birth date.
Where will our newborn session take place?
Most of our newborn sessions take place at our home studio in Rosemount, MN (just East of Apple Valley) where you will have full access to our large collection of hats, headbands, accessories, backgrounds and props! We do also offer an on location option for an additional $50 fee for families that would prefer to have their newborn session at their own home. On location newborn sessions only have access to a pre-selected portion of our full collection of accessories and setups.
What are your newborn sessions like?
Our newborn portrait sessions are our absolute favorite! They generally last from 1 1/2-3 hours in length with plenty of breaks for cleanups, feedings and soothing. We will work to capture a great variety of images of your newborn posed against a couple of different backgrounds and then we will also have a prop setup as well as include any family or sibling shots that you may want to capture. Our newborn sessions are very relaxed and stress free and we follow your baby’s lead to ensure their comfort and happiness!
What do we need to bring to our newborn session?
We have a great variety of hats, headbands and other accessories available for your session. You are also welcome to bring along a few favorite items that may have special meaning for us to incorporate into your session. The majority of our newborns are photographed in the buff, so there’s no need to bring any outfits for the photos! We will send you a list of specific preparations before your session, but we provide just about everything for your session, you just need to bring the baby! 🙂
How much will our session cost? What is included in the Creative Fee?
Our Newborn Creative Fee is $150+tax and is due at the time of booking your session to secure your spot on our calendar. Your Creative Fee covers our time and talent before, during and after your session as we narrow down and fully edit your images for your viewing. The Creative Fee does not include any prints, digital files or products. Please contact us to receive a copy of our Art & Services Guide! Most of our newborn clients invest upwards of $700. We also have a $350 minimum order requirement on all newborn sessions in addition to the Creative Fee. This minimum does not include any prints, products or digital images, but rather is the amount required to be spent at the time of ordering your portraits.
Do you offer Birth Announcements?
Yes! We are very happy to be able to offer a huge selection of Birth Announcements through our partnership with Tiny Prints. All of our newborn clients are welcome to use their favorite images from their session when ordering their birth announcements through our Tiny Prints Store.

Additional questions for us? Simply call us or contact us and we’ll be happy to answer all of your questions directly!
Hello – I was hoping to book a newborn session but wanted to find out a little bit more about your pricing. I was confused about this sentence: “We also have a $350 minimum order requirement on all newborn sessions in addition to the Creative Fee. This minimum does not include any prints, products or digital images.” If the minimum order requirement does not include prints, products, or digital images – then what does it include?
I am currently 32 weeks pregnant and due on November 4th. My husband and I are interested in newborn photography. Can you send us additional information. Also, we have a 3 year old springer spaniel and would be interested in incorporating him in a couple of shots – would this be possible?
