This month we are happy to introduce you to a wonderful LOCAL business Tickled Green Organics for our Feature Friday. Tickled Green Organics was started by a dad/Chef who has a passion for feeding his kids the best food possible. He wants to share this with other parents who also feel strongly about what their kids are fed.
Ryan Hoffman officially started Tickled Green Organics in 2013 but the idea hatched in 2012 with the birth of their first child. With Ryan having a culinary degree he decided he wanted to make his own food for his daughter. He tested some recipes with friends who had young kids to get feedback before starting his business. Within a few months, Tickled Green Organics was launched and shortly thereafter they were selling their product at local Farmers Markets. In the Summer of 2013 the e-commerce website was launched giving customers the ability to order food online for free home delivery. Now in their 2nd year they are selling their product at the St. Paul Farmers Market, as well as the Eagan Farmers Market and are currently in negotiation to have their product carried at some local co-op grocers.
Tickled Green Organics currently sell certified USDA organic fruit and vegetable purees in 3.5oz squeeze pouches. The 3 flavors available are Simply Apples, Simply Pears and Simply Sweet Potatoes. The food is made fresh on a weekly basis, and you can definitely taste it!!
Their products are a great first food option for infants 6+ months or even for young kids as a healthy snack. Another great option is to pack these in your kids lunch box for school.
There are other squeeze pouch options available in stores, but almost all of them are shelf stable products with a shelf life of up to 1 year. Tickled Green Organics have a shelf life is 2 1/2 weeks since there are no preservatives added.
Tickled Green Organics is offering a 20% discount for first time orders! You can order by phone or email. Discount will expire on August 31, 2014.
