Tips for a Successful Session: Locations >> MN Child Photographer

Location. Location. Location!  When you book your session, we would love for you to have a general idea of where you would like your session to take place. Ask yourself, do I prefer the studio look? Do I love brick buildings or barns? Are flowers and green grass your idea of heaven? Would your beautiful home and landscaping be perfect for a photo shoot?  There are countless options when it comes to the location for your session!  We want to know what your style is so we can plan a location accordingly.

ATP002_Minneapolis Baby Photographer_TenTinyToesIf your session is not going to be taking place in the studio, we can help pick a great spot anywhere in our beautiful Twin Cities area. Since Amy and Annie grew up in Minnesota, we have a large database of locations that we would love for you to experience and are happy to make a recommendation for you!

When picking a location, we always keep the safety of your child as our #1 priority. We will not suggest that we have your 1 year old in an alley with broken glass and cars driving by. We know of several urban locations that are safe if that is the look you would like. We also would not have your child sit on something that is not sturdy or if there is a chance that they could fall even if it would make “the cutest shot ever!” Your child’s age and stage are always at the forefront of our minds when we make location suggestions.

Another thing that is very important to consider is how far of a drive your kids can handle. Unless you want your child to be napping in the car, having your session nearby your home can be a huge benefit to the custom photography experience. Children are generally a little grumpy if they have to be in the car longer than 20 minutes (at least ours are!). If an outdoor session is what you envision, we are able to suggest several locations close to where you live. Less driving = a happy family.

We also love when a client has a location in mind that they love or one that is important to you. Did Dad propose to Mom on the Stone Arch Bridge? How sweet would it be to have a family session there?!  We love when our clients want to experience a variety of locations over the years so that we always can give a fresh, new experience.
